16 days Annapurna Circuit Trek with poon hill titi lake Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek via Titi Lake and Poon Hill is a breathtakingly arranged 16-day Himalayan odyssey that blends the showpieces of the classic high-altitude Annapurna Circuit with off-the-beaten-track secret treasures like Titi Lake and legendary sunrise vista of Poon Hill. This sensory trekking journey rolls out an extraterrestrial canvas of landscape from sweeping gorges and emerald-green rhododendron forests to blustery plateaux of Manang and the sacred temple town of Muktinath.
Cross Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) and view the sacred Ice Lake. Relax at natural hot springs in Tatopani, and finish your trek in peaceful lake town Pokhara. The adventure traveler's holy grail trek for adventurous travelers with a thirst for altitude, culture, diversity, and the uncharted wealth of the Annapurna region.
Titi Lake
Titi Lake is perhaps Mustang's undiscovered gem at some 2,679 meters along the Kali Gandaki gorge. It is ringed by thick groves of pine forest on one side and the Himalayan titans Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri as companions. The lake is a remote sanctuary off the regular trekking route. Its liquid color is as speckled as glass, and the silence of surrounding peaks conceals a tranquil environment. It is ideal for relaxation, meditation, and photography. Such a serene tour to Titi Lake through virgin forest cover is thus worth undertaking as a side trip from the Annapurna Circuit trek.
Walking or trekking to Lake Titi is generally a simple pine forest and rhododendron thicket trek, and therefore still an excellent choice even for one who requires a moderately graded side trip to the Annapurna Circuit trek. The peaceful environment, fresh mountain air, and relaxing atmosphere are the ideal ambience for meditation, photo shooting, or simply relaxing amid nature.
Route Description
The journey is begun with a drive to Dharapani from Kathmandu and then a trek into the valley of the Marsyangdi River. You ascend gradually through Chame, Upper Pisang, and Ngawal to high Tibetan-occupied terrain with its imposing cliffs and old monasteries. You have a deserved rest day at Manang with the option for a trek to Ice Lake (4,600 m) or Gangapurna Lake.
Off Manang, the terrain is alpine and dry as one moves through Ledar to reach Thorong Phedi, the final stop before passing through the white Thorong La Pass. Ascent from the top of the pass to Muktinath, which is a holy place for both Buddhists and Hindus.
Instead of taking the busy route of Kali Gandaki, you cross over by Titi Lake—a peaceful, sacred, and off-the-beaten-track location—then on to Tatopani and up through Sikha and Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 m). Take your final sunrise on the summits of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountains, and then head back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.

What to Expect
Beauty of natural locations and Alpine Heterogeneity
The Everest Base Camp Trek provides rather natural locations, varying from shaded below-canopy valleys and rice fields below, to alpine desert-like landscapes higher up, glaciers, and volcanic ridges. Picture world-class performers—Annapurna I (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Manaslu, Tilicho Peak, Machapuchare, and many more.
Cultural Experiences
You pass by diverse ethnic villages—Gurung, Tamang, Thakali, and Manangi, each having their own way of life and language, architecture, and cuisine. You get to see ancient monasteries, prayer wheels, chortens, and village teahouses throughout the trek.
Thorong La Pass—the Highest Point of the Trek (5,416 m)
Walking across Thorong La Pass, the trekking highest point, is challenging but worthwhile experience. The rising height makes the ascent even more difficult, but to stand on the top having a Himalayan view of 360 degrees before your eyes is memory imprinted in one's heart for lifetime.
Sunrise at Poon Hill (3,210 m)
Dawn from an early morning on Poon Hill, the most renowned viewing point of Nepal, is worth waiting for. See the dawn rise over the snow-capped tops of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Nilgiri, light the Himalayas in a fire of golden radiance, and give your trek a flawless visual conclusion.
Serene Titi Lake
This aside takes you straight to a spiritual alpine lake lined with pine trees just beyond Kalopani. A peaceful and culturally vibrant place, Titi Lake is a devotional and photogenic side trip from the regular trail, with seclusion and a secret-gem atmosphere beyond the reach of tourist mobs.
Tatopani Natural Hot Springs
After trekking at high altitudes, unwind your muscles at the natural hot spring of Tatopani. The hot pools are the preferred resting place for one of the paths', and they are the perfect place to relax before your ultimate ascent to Ghorepani and Poon Hill.
A Balanced Himalayan Adventure
Adding the mountain thrill of the best to cultural blend, landscape amenity, holy sites, and motorway miles as well, the trek is ideal for those looking for an all-encompassing and diverse Annapurna experience. The hard days are ahead, but with staggering scenery, warm hospitality, and memories to last a lifetime, it's an experience never to be forgotten.
Best Season to Trek
Spring (March to May)
Spring is the most popular and best trekking season in the Himalayas in Nepal. The trekkers have incontrovertibly picturesque settings down below, with rhododendrons in bloom and oleaceous trees, the alpine flower species in superstition, all painted in front of the white ridges of the Himalayas. At lower altitudes, the temperature is warm to mild, but at high passes such as Thorong La, it is always chilling, especially early in the morning.
Autumn (September to November)
Post-monsoon, the autumn season blesses the country with a bright sky, washes away the dust, and empties away the ants of smog on the carpet of Nilgrita, which in turn, trekkers trample. And just making everything fun is the onset of grand festivals of Dashain and Tihar, so it is a suitable time for snapping the life out of Nepal.
Not Recommended
Even though winter (Dec-Feb) is less busy and has snow landscapes, it is subzero and will have snow closures at the upper end, especially near Thorong La Pass.
Monsoon (Jun-Aug) offers torrential rain, slippery trails, and landslides at the lower end and is therefore the worst season to trek.
Food and Accommodation on Trek
Food
The cuisine is uncomplicated but of the best. You are going to be consuming dal bhat, a satisfying evening meal of rice, lentil soup, vegetables, and free-flowing pickles, which will give you a sufficient amount of energy to go trekking. The extravagant noodle buffet, momos (dumplings), soups, fried rice, pancakes, chapati, porridge, and, in more advanced villages, even pizza or apple pie, are being served by all the teahouses. Meat, eggs, and vegetables and fruits are available in low altitudes such as Chame and Tatopani, yet at higher altitudes, they are scarce but reassuring. Spiced hot drinks such as ginger tea, masala chai, black coffee, and lemon honey tea are readily available for warmth.
Accommodation
At Annapurna Circuit trail from Poon Hill to Titi Lake, travelers can arrange quite decent teahouse lodging and a whole lot of hot, freshly cooked food at each overnight halt. There are teahouses, although simple but welcoming family-owned inns, in most but a few villages along the way. The rooms are plain but clean, with double beds that are equipped with mattresses, pillows, and blankets. Shared toilet facilities are also available in the bathroom, and hot showers and charging rooms are on the highest floor. Toilet facilities, along with semi-developed lodges and luxuries, are offered in more urban destinations like Manang, Muktinath, and Ghorepani.
Trekking Difficulty
The Annapurna Circuit Trek via Titi Lake and Poon Hill is a difficult to hard trek that demands good physical fitness, strong willpower, and a small amount of hiking experience. The trek enjoys a fine variety in terrain and elevation, from rich river valleys at 760 meters to the high alpine Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, the summit of the trek. The trek involves long day hikes (5 to 8 hours), steep uphill and downhill climbs, boulder-studded trails, and high-altitude trails that demand good endurance and careful trekking.
The most challenging portion of the trek is the Thorong La Pass crossing that involves an early morning trek, a steep and hard climb at high altitude, and a laboriously slow downhill trek to Muktinath. Acclimatization days in Manang are required to offset the decrease in the risk of altitude illness. Other parts, such as the Tatopani-Ghorepani trail, are made up of relentless climbing trails and rock steps through dense forests, which are challenging. Side trip to Titi Lake is far short of it, though—an easy to moderate side trip with cultural and view interest and without strenuous climbing."
Though demanding, the ascent is technical but otherwise easy for most healthy and active individuals. For individuals who do exercises that involve cardiovascular exercise, regularly walk, and possess high-quality gear, the trail will be well worth the effort. Having a guide or a porter also simplifies the effort, especially on long treks and at high altitude. Adequate training, pacing, and guidance make the trek safe and pleasant.
Permits for Trek
Trekkers need to have two permits while trekking in the Annapurna region. They are:
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
You need the ACAP when entering the conservation area in Annapurna. It costs you approximately USD 25 (NPR 3,000) for foreign nationals. You get it from the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Or you can ask your trekking agency to manage all this paperwork.
Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card
The TIMS card helps to track the trekkers for safety and emergency management. You need to carry a TIMS card, which costs approximately USD 15 (NPR 2000) for individual trekkers. If you’re trekking with a registered guide or agency, it will cost you NPR 1000. You get it from the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or Pokhara or your trekking agency will arrange it for you.
Packing Essentials
Smart packing is key to comfort, safety, and success on such a multi-day hike. Weather and terrain along the trail vary wildly, from hot valleys to snowy mountain passes, so layered clothing and hard-wearing gear are required. Here is an essential gear list:

The trek is around 16 days, counting travel, acclimatization, and sightseeing days.
Nepal Trekking Rangers was phenomenal. Yuddha and his team were communicative, organized, and fairly priced. When our flight to Kathmandu was delayed, Yuddha met us at the airport and ensured we made our connection to Lukla without issue.
On the Three Passes trek, Yuddha was exceptional — attentive, flexible, and fun (he taught us Nepali card games we played nonstop). Thanks to Nepal Trekking Rangers, this truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Trek with Nepal Trekking experts if you are going to Nepal!
I just finished the Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Trekking Rangers and would 100% recommend them to anyone coming to Nepal.
Yuddha, the owner, is a true professional. From the beginning when I contacted him, he was super responsive and able to provide advice on which trek was best. Whenever I had follow-up questions, he would always respond the same day. They also operate with the utmost integrity. Originally, I was meant to trek with them in 2020, but this was cancelled because of Covid. Yuddha reminded me that I had paid the deposit five years ago (which at the time I had told him to hold on to) and took that off the price — I had completely forgotten.
They gave me a warm welcome at the airport as soon as I arrived, and Yuddha met me at my hotel to make sure I had the correct kit, even providing me with things I didn’t have free of charge.
On the trek itself, Yuddha was our guide — so knowledgeable, fun, and spoke great English. Every time I asked him a question about the mountains or region, he had an answer. All the tea houses booked were great and had good food. In the evening, he would play cards with us, and if we ever needed help with anything, he was always on hand.
Words can’t describe the views you see on this trek — we were completely surrounded by the mountains. Yuddha also made sure we went at a sensible pace to avoid any risk of altitude sickness and to ensure we could take it all in.
Overall, it was an experience of a lifetime, and next time I am back in Nepal, I will be trekking with Nepal Trekking Rangers.
Thanks so much, Yuddha!
Perfekter Trek zum Everest Basecamp
We have nothing but positive things to say about our trek with Nepal Trekking Rangers! Our group of three friends was looking for something a little different from the EBC trek and didn’t have time to do the full Three Passes loop. Nepal Trekking Rangers gave us lots of options, and we decided to trek directly to Gokyo Lakes, then over Renjo La and back down to Lukla. It was perfect for us.
Our guide, Yuddha, was super knowledgeable, and the team supporting us was kind and helpful throughout. The communication before and after the trek was excellent, and when we ran into a small snag during our journey, Yuddha handled it smoothly and professionally.
I can’t say enough about how experienced, well-connected, and genuinely kind everyone was. We had an amazing trip, and you’ll be in great hands with Nepal Trekking Rangers.
Great Himalay experience
Hiked the Three Passes trek with Nepal Trekking Rangers and our guide Yuddha. He was a fantastic guide to have on this trek — knowledgeable, professional, and a great match for our group. I’ll be happy to use their services again on our next Himalaya adventure.
Incredible Three Passes Trek Experience!
We had an incredible time on our Three Passes trek (and during our whole visit to Nepal) thanks to Nepal Trekking Rangers! I researched trekking guides thoroughly before we started our trip and probably reached out to 15 of them. I decided Nepal Trekking Rangers was the best in terms of reviews, ease of communication, and price. After the trip was complete, I can confidently say I was right to choose them.
We had a specific itinerary in mind that needed to fit our schedule, and Yuddha was extremely helpful and accommodating. He answered all our questions promptly during planning and provided extra info, tips, and advice that we wouldn’t have known to ask about. When our international flight to Nepal was delayed by 12 hours, he pulled out all the stops to make sure we still made it to Lukla on time — coming to the airport himself with all the gear we rented, helping us repack into their duffel bags, and storing our suitcases at their office. It was incredibly convenient, and we would have been hugely delayed without his extra effort. He even brought Nepalese rupees to exchange from our USD so we wouldn’t waste time at the airport — and at a better rate!
Our guide, Yuddha, was clearly one of the best we saw on the trails. His decades of experience showed. He was kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. He helped us navigate the chaos of Lukla airport, made sure we got the best possible accommodations within our budget, communicated with tea house staff, showed us local plants, animals, and landmarks, and answered all our “Which mountain is this?” questions with patience and insight. He told us amazing stories, taught us a Nepali card game that became a nightly tradition, and kept us safe and confident through tricky sections like Chukhung Ri, glacier crossings, and the steep descents from the passes.
When we decided mid-trip to skip an acclimatization day in Dingboche, Yuddha quickly rebooked all our accommodations to adjust the schedule. That flexibility allowed us to return to Kathmandu a day early and enjoy more time in the city — a perfect ending to the trek.
Nepal Trekking Rangers clearly employs some of the best in the business, and Yuddha is incredibly skilled and dedicated to making sure guests have an unforgettable experience. After the trek, we visited his office in Kathmandu to share our experience, and he was a warm and gracious host, eager to hear our feedback — which was all glowing.
This was a truly memorable trip, and we’re so glad we chose Nepal Trekking Rangers.
